FAQ

Got questions? We’ve got answers — short, snappy, and straight from the bean source. From brew tips to shipping deets, here’s everything you’ve been wondering about Max Coffee.

FAQs

What’s the best way to store my coffee?

In an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. Not in the fridge. Treat your beans like royalty, not leftovers. Its like bread- left out it goes stale! Want to go the extra mile? Store them in a vacuum canister like this one.

How long will my coffee stay fresh?

We reckon it’s best within 2-3 weeks of roasting. After that, the magic starts to fade. Still drinkable — just not as wow.

Should I get whole beans or ground?

Whole beans = max flavour. Ground = max convenience. If you’ve got a grinder, go beans. If not, we’ve got you — just pick your brew method and we’ll grind to match.

Do you have organic coffee?

We sure do! Our Organic BlendTimor Rosa, and single origins like Honduras OrganicMexico FESICH, and Timor Organic are all certified organic. Find them here.

If it’s organic, we’ll say so in the product description. If it’s not, rest assured it’s still responsibly sourced and roasted with the same Max-level care and attention.

Is your coffee Fair Trade?

Some of the co-ops we source from are Fairtrade certified — but here’s the thing: unless you’re officially licensed, you’re not allowed to say which ones. It’s a trademark thing.

What we can say is this: we work with trusted importers who prioritise fair pricing, traceability, and long-term relationships with growers. So while not every bag carries a label, the values are still there.

Are your beans 100% Arabica?

Yep, every single one. No Robusta sneak-ins here — just 100% Arabica beans, responsibly sourced and roasted in small batches up in Northland. That’s what gives Max coffee its smooth, flavour-packed personality. Bold where it counts, mellow when it matters.

Do you have decaf?

We sure do — and it’s actually good. Swiss Water processed, full of flavour, zero sadness. Trust us.

Are your pods compatible with Nespresso® machines?

Absolutely. Our pods are compatible with Nespresso® Original Line machines — just pop one in, press the button, and enjoy the Max magic. (They won’t work with Vertuo machines, though — blame the system, not the beans.)

Ordering & Shipping

How long does shipping take?

Most orders head out the door within 1–2 business days. After that, it’s usually 2–4 days to arrive, depending where you are in NZ. Rural spots might take a touch longer (blame the goats).

Do you offer free shipping?

Yep! Orders over $100 ship free within New Zealand. Subscription orders also ship free.

Can I track my order?

Sure can. As soon as your order ships, you’ll get a tracking link via email. Refresh it like it’s Christmas morning.

Do you ship internationally?

On the website- only to Aussie but we've certainly sent coffee further afield. Our Max crew is devout! But if you’re really keen and have an international postcode, flick us an email and we’ll see what we can do.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Oh no! That’s not the Max way. Email us at info@maxcoffee.co.nz and we’ll sort it quick-smart.

Do you offer local pickup from the roastery?

We sure do. Just choose Local Pickup at checkout and swing by during open hours. We’ll have your coffee ready and waiting.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

Pretty damn fresh. We roast in small batches throughout the week, so most orders ship within a few days of roasting. Your beans will be full of flavour and ready to brew.

Coffee Subscriptions

How does your coffee subscription work?

Pick your favourite coffee, set how often you want it, and we’ll send it on repeat. No thinking, no running out, just fresh beans delivered like clockwork.

Can I pause, skip, or cancel my subscription?

Yep! You’ve got full control. After your first recurring order, you can pause, skip a shipment, or cancel anytime from your customer portal. No strings — just great coffee, on your terms.

Can I change my coffee or grind type?

Absolutely. Switch it up whenever you like — just hop into your portal and choose a new coffee or grind. Your tastebuds, your rules.

Do subscribers get any perks?

Free shipping, first pick of the good stuff, and one less thing to forget each week. Coffee on cruise control.

Returns questions

What’s your return policy?

If something’s not right, we’ll make it right. Just get in touch within 14 days and we’ll sort you out — refunds, replacements, whatever’s fair.

Can I return opened coffee?

Sadly not — once it’s opened, it’s yours (just like a bag of chips). But if there’s a problem with the coffee, let us know and we’ll make it right.

My gear arrived faulty — what should I do?

Snap a photo and flick it to info@maxcoffee.co.nz — we’ll sort it out pronto, no dramas.

At The Roastery

Can I visit your roastery in Kerikeri?

You bet. We’re open Monday to Friday — roasting, packing, and pouring the good stuff daily. Swing by for a brew and a yarn.
We're open Monday - Thursday from 7:30am - 4:30 pm. On Fridays we open at 7:30 but close early at 12pm.

Do you serve coffee on-site?

Sure do. It’s not a full café, but we’re always pulling shots. Swing by for a solid espresso or flat white and some friendly banter.

Can I buy beans or gear directly from the roastery?

Yep! Grab your favourite blend, stock up on pods or filters, or order a Max tee while you’re at it. We’ve got a little bit of everything.
