Sustainability at Max

Just doing our bit between brews

We’re not here to greenwash your eyeballs. But we are doing our bit — with less waste, local reuse, and choices that actually make a difference.

Brewing Better, Bit by Bit

We’re into good coffee and better habits.

That’s why we use compostable cups, soft plastics recyclable bags in the supermarket (just rinse and drop at your local collection point), and a sweet local loop that keeps our coffee scraps out of the bin. Chaff goes to a farmer, grounds to a compost wizard, and you? You’re part of it too — one cup, one bag, one better choice at a time.

Waste Not, Roast Not

Roasting coffee makes chaff — the papery skin that flakes off the bean. Most folks don’t think twice about it, but we pass ours on to Tyler, a local legend who folds it back into the soil. It breaks down easy and boosts the good stuff in the ground. Zero waste, better gardens, and one more reason we love small-town coffee loops.

Plant-Based Ecoware

Our takeaway cups are made from plants, not plastic — certified to break down in commercial compost faster than you can say “long black, extra shot.” Made by Ecoware, a Kiwi company that’s climate-positive and actually walking the talk. Still, bringing your own cup is the real flex — we’ll knock 50c off and give you a subtle nod of approval.

The Groundskeeper

After we brew, there’s a mountain of spent coffee grounds. Thankfully, a compost queen named Dianne swings by to collect the lot. She mixes it into her soil blends and boom — your old flat white fuels someone’s future lettuce. Nature’s weird but wonderful.
Find her Fodda here.

BYO Cup = 50c off

Reusable cups = less waste and 50c off your brew. Good for the planet, great for your wallet, and a solid flex at the espresso bar.

BYO Bag = $1 off (for 500g or 1kg)

Bringing your own container for 500g or 1kg gets you $1 off. Less packaging, more beans, and one small win for the world.

Sourcing That Makes Sense

We work with green bean suppliers who care about the land and the people growing on it. Just good beans, grown right.

Less Waste. More Taste.

From the farm to your cup (and then to someone’s compost pile), we’re keeping things tasty and tidy. It’s not perfect — but it’s getting better with every brew. We work with people who care, and we welcome customers who do too. Got ideas? Hit us up. We’re all ears (and beans).
